Robert Steven Jensen passed away on Aug 2nd 2025 to complications of pancreatic cancer. Born Nov 17th 1950 to Robert Wendell Jensen and Bonnie Russel Jensen in Salt Lake City and raised in Canyon Rim in Millcreek, UT. In his early life he enjoyed spending time with his family. They stayed very active outdoors and were card game enthusiasts. He worked hard in his youth on local farms and moving sprinkler pipe in Idaho. At a young age he followed his father in preaching the gospel to anyone who would listen. He was awarded a scholarship to BYU and spent a year there before serving an LDS mission in Toronto, Ontario Mission. In his final days he spoke of memories of his mission and the coincidences and circumstances that led to many aspects of his life such as his marriage to Tarina K. Amundsen on May 18th 1973 in the Salt Lake Temple. They celebrated 52 years of marriage. Steve was a seeker of knowledge. He enjoyed reading and researching many subjects. He was always willing to share the knowledge he acquired and would usually loop any content back to the gospel. He worked several occupations throughout his years raising his family. After losing his father, he took over his father’s business of stamping the locker tags for the LDS Temples across the world. You could often see and hear him in his back room stamping tags by hand and enjoyed sharing this trade with his son Rob and many grandchildren. He was very proud of his children and their accomplishments (we are pretty spectacular) and enjoyed spending time with his family. Getting together with children and grandchildren was always full of laughter, often at his expense. He spent a lot of time with his siblings, especially his brother Russ who he always felt very supported by. He is survived by his wife Tarina Jensen and his children; Robert Jensen (Kathy), Tami Morgan (Jaren), Rebecca Becker (Jeremy) Aaron Jensen (Jody) Jennifer McKee (Jim) and 14 grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings; Valerie Gertino (Steve), Russ Jensen (Alison), Wendy Gledhill (DeVon), DruAnn Doxey (Matt) Marcie Gledhill (Denis), and many nieces and nephews Preceded in death by his parents, and his granddaughter Gracie whom he was so very eager to reunite with. Graveside service will be held at Elysian Gardens Cemetery 1075 East 4580 South, SLC on Tuesday Aug 12th at 12:00. Luncheon for all friends and family to follow at the LDS Meeting house 1111 East Charlton Ave, SLC.
