Dinner & Program Event

Event Details

The premier event for our 50-year reunion will be the Dinner and Program at the Marriott University Park Hotel, 480 Wakara Way, Salt Lake City, UT.  We will begin with a Meet & Greet at 5:00 pm in the Marriott Atrium, then enter the ballroom at 5:30 pm.  Dinner will be served at 6:00 pm, followed by a fantastic program, and ending with plenty of time for socializing.  We can accommodate 5 more people; so if you would still like to attend, send an email through the "Contact Us" site page of this website.

The Dinner Subcommittee sampled food from Marriott's new menu and found it to be beyond exceptional and are excited to offer the following choices:

  • Entree:  Roasted Bistro Steak Bordelaise or Salmon in Tomato Saffron Broth each with a side dish (Sweet Pea Risotto will be available only for those who request it by September 4 through the "Contact Us" site page of this website.)
  • Salad:  Mixed Field Greens or Spinach Arugula Blue Cheese
  • Dessert:  Triple Chocolate Mousse or Key Lime Pie

Your reunion committee, along with our Golden Eagle Donors, want our 50-year reunion to be as inclusive as possible and have established a fund to confidentially subsidize ticket prices for this event for alumni who would appreciate it.  Those interested in a subsidy are encouraged to contact Wendy Steorts Martin at wendymartin8e@gmail.com or 801-272-1939.  Do not get turned away!  Ensure your particpation at this premier event of our 50-year reunion.

Classmate, Greg Link, will emcee the program.  Link, retired motivational speaker, cofounded former Covey Leadership Center, CoveyLink World-Wide, and FranklinCovey Global Speed of Trust Practice.  He was influential in the worldwide success of 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, The Speed of Trust, and coauthored Smart Trust.

Dr. Donald Ripplinger, beloved choir director, at 92 years young will lead an impromptu and historic choir.  He will invite all willing '69 alumni and guests, who had at any time been in one of his classes, to sing the Skyline Hymn (written by classmate Stan Romney's mother, Elaine Clive Romney, with choir arrangement by Dr. Ripplinger).  Listen to the hymn, and read the music and lyrics on the site page "Skyline Hymn/Campus Tour" of this website.  Dr. Ripplinger will lead us all in the Skyline Fight Song, which he wrote.  At this event, music and lyrics will be provided for the hymn, and lyrics only for the fight song.  Start practicing!

Multi-talented musician, Ike Egan (Skyline '71), will conduct a musical presentation with songs from the '60s. Ike directed and performed with the New Christy Minstrels, cowrote songs, produced records for, and toured worldwide with The Osmonds, sang in hundreds of commercials nationwide, composed the score for Ulysses 31 for over 30 years, and received awards for his contributions to radio broadcasting.  These achievements represent just a snippet of his extensive history of musical accomplishments.
