Patricia Hanks (Camomile)

Patricia Hanks Camomile obituary, 1950-2018, Hurricane, UT

1950 ~ 2018 Patricia Hanks Camomile passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 26, 2018 after a courageous battle with cancer. Pat was born on November 15, 1950 in SLC, UT and was the 3rd of 8 children born to Duane and Dora (Clayson) Hanks. She graduated from Skyline HS in SLC in 1969 and went on to work at the University of Utah Hospital as an administrative assistant.
As a single mother she was supportive, courageous, and innovative. Never thinking twice about sacrificing her own needs to provide opportunities for her children, she left them with lasting impressions of dedication, love, commitment, and devotion.
In 1998 she married Craig Bridge Camomile. For the next 20 years they traveled and enjoyed kayaking, biking, boating, and camping.
Her greatest joy was her family and everyone around her was blessed with her giving heart. She put others first and was full of great advice. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother (AKA Swaggy G), sister, aunt, and friend. Caitlin, Brynn, Brooklynn, Javian, Aiden, and Brylin were blessed to call her grandma. She was their #1 fan and spent countless hours supporting and encouraging them to excel in various school and sporting activities.
Wherever Pat went she was part of a loving group of friends who enjoyed spending time together. These friendships lasted both time and distance and became a source of great motivation over the years.
She had a passion for the outdoors and could often be found at her “gathering spot” on her back patio. She loved working in her yard and found great joy in seeing the rewards of her labors there. She loved playing Panquitch Rummy, taking long walks, spending time at Sand Hollow, and laughing during her annual sister trips. She was devoted and compassionate, making everyone feel like they were the most important person in the world when they were around her. She cheered for the underdog and lived each day to the fullest. She wasn’t afraid to try something new and found joy in the simple things.
She is preceded in death by her parents and is survived by her husband; daughter, Erin Dinkel (Ken); son, Matt Hintze (Amy); 6 grandchildren; siblings, DeAnna Whitney (Len); Brent Hanks (Carla); Dennis Hanks (Kim); Barbara Vanderhoof (Rich); Jolene Davie; Paul Hanks (Jerilyn); Jeff Hanks (Lynda); and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express a heartfelt thanks to Dr Karen Lin and all of the staff at the Intermountain Southwest Regional Cancer Clinic – St George.
She will be greatly missed but we look forward to the joyful reunion we will have with her someday. A celebration of life to honor Pat will be held at a later date.
