Dennis G. Hansen

1950 ~ 2013
Our loving husband, father and grandfather, Dennis Gene Hansen, returned to the arms of our Heavenly Father May 1, 2013 after a 17 year battle with Parkinson's disease.
Dennis was born February 11, 1950 to Ada Lucille Christensen and Hamlet Ralph Hansen. He attended West High School and the University of Utah. He married his sweetheart, Peggy Burton, April 29, 1972. They and their four children were later sealed together for time and all eternity in the Jordan River Temple. Dennis proudly served in the US Army for seven years. He was an extremely hard worker and took great pride in his labors. He loved cars and spent his career in the automobile industry. He worked at General Motors and Great Basin GMC. He then became part owner and General Manager of Salt Lake Valley GMC. He served as president of the South Salt Lake Chamber of Commerce, president of the GMC Ad Association and had many other positions within the business community. Dennis loved his family, especially vacationing with them. His favorite destinations were Lake Powell, Newport Beach and Disneyland. He always had a story to tell and his laugh was contagious. His favorite"medicine" was ice cream and donuts. Dennis served in various callings for the LDS Church including Stake Sunday School president, Elders Quorum president and 1st Counselor in the Cannonwood Ward bishopric. He had a deep testimony of the gospel and knew first hand of Heavenly Father's love and tender mercies. He is survived by his wife, Peggy; children: Brenda (Jason) Beckstead, Tricia (Riley) Wilkinson, Shauna (Brandon) Olsen, Tyler (Jennifer) Hansen; brother, Raymond (Sandra) Hansen; 10 grandchildren who love him very much; and many friends and other family members. Preceded in death by his parents; and grandson, Rix Wilkinson.
