Stephen Edgar Geersten

Stephen Edgar Geersten

Stephen Edgar Geertsen, 63, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes Friday, November 15, 2013, in Logan, Utah. Steve was born in Salt Lake City, Utah May 1, 1950 to Ronald Myron Geertsen and Edna Mae Combs. He grew up in Salt Lake City near his grandparents. He graduated from Skyline High School in 1968. He worked for Syro Steel and Pepsi. He married Judy L. Hill on July 8, 1979 in Elko, Nevada.

Steve had many challenges in his life. As a child he suffered from polio which affected his health for the remainder of his life. He also struggled with some mental illness. He was a gentle, kind person who was loved by many. He had no children of his own but willingly and lovingly became a father and grandfather to Judy's eight children and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, sisters, Kathy (Fred) Buck, Loretta (Gary) Carter and brother, Dick (Loretta) Geertsen, his step-children, Melanie (Daymond) Phelps, Eddie Dean Price, Rod (Karen) Price, Laura Johnson, Kristin (Roger) Bigelow, Brandon (Cyndi) Balls and Jennifer (Scott) Becker. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Larry and step-son Kevin Price.

The family would like to thank Dr. Barton Avery and Bear River Mental Health for their kindness and care for Steve through the years.
